Hello everybody ^^
How are you? I'm fine except the fact that many of my favourite Gal magazines are going to be discontinued Q______Q
The only remaining magazine that I like is Popteen right now... and it's not a real gyaru magazine as it used to be...

my photo for #galappreciation |
The girls of "Gal Vip" (with Rox leading the way) had the idea of showing condolescence of the gaijin gyaru community to the discontiuing of "Koakuma Ageha", "Happy Nuts", " I love mama" and "Ane Ageha" with a photo of yourself and one of these magazines posted on social networks, tagged with #galappreciation.
But IF MY INFORMATIONS ARE CORRECT (I still hope it's a bad joke) the publisher of "Egg" also proclaimed the end of Egg magazine.
|
So I also did a #galappreciation photo with Egg!!! |
"Egg" is definitely more essential to me than any other Japanese magazine... Together with Popteen it has always been my favourite one and the most inspiring one!!!
I could accept changing Gyaru style but now it seems that Gyaru is even dying...
There is no magazine comparable to Egg anymore!
Or do you know any?
All the remaining gal magazines show mature Onee and Mode Gyaru style in a clear and well-ordered boring layout....too much inspired by western magazines.
Where is the happy and easy-giong, colourful gyaru style magazine that shows vitality and unadjusted youthfashion?
I know that I'm actually the age groupe that should wear grown up Gyaru styles but I just can't cope with Onee or Mode style.
I've already toned down my styles and make-ups and I'm a big fan of casual/sporty street style but I really don't know which magazines I can buy in the future. (except Popteen ...hopefully Popteen will survive!!!)
These are the latest magazines that I bought. I will make scans and show you!
"Egg" April and Mai, "Popteen" Mai and "S Cawaii" April.
Is Gyaru really dying or is it still just a changing?
Here are some of my thoughts and proofs of dying gyaru culture:
-It has started with toned down styles and make-ups. Very natural lashes, most often no bottom lashes at all and natural circle lenses.
But I never thought this is a bad evolution. Gyaru style has always been changing from the early 90's until now. There were so many gal styles coexisting from very light and natural to super tanned and extreme.
-But then the former gyaru magazine "Ranzuki" proclaimed last Autumn not to be Gal magazine anymore.
|
But maybe it's still a nice magazine...? I should give it a try! |
-A little later "Soul Sister" an Ora Ora/Tsuyome/Kuro Gyaru magazine was not published anymore. It's said it takes a hiatus...well I don't believe that it will be published again.
-The publisher of Ane Ageha, Koakuma Ageha, I love Mama and Happy Nuts is in dept and will stop producing these magazines.
-Egg will probably be discontinued, too.
- The core
gyaru shopping center "Shibuya 109" is changing. Brands are changing and even non-gyaru shops like "Adidas" or Harajuku kei brand "KOKOkim" are now in 109.
|
adidas in 109 ??? feels a little strange... |
My friend Kiki even told me that there is no SBY in 109 anymore o.O Were to buy lashes now???? XD
This is kind of strange because there is no information on official 109 or SBY webpage about closing that shop o.O
She didn't even get the lashes and cosmetics she wanted at Donki or other drugstores. A lack of lashes in Japan? What's happening?
Don't get me wrong. I'm not a pessimist in that case and I will continue beeing Gaijin Gyaru. I will take my inspirations from new fashion styles and from former gyaru fashion. I will mix it with Harajuku kei and wear it the way I want to!
But I really miss the Gyaru style of 2011 when I first get in contact with that fahion style and bought my first magazins.
And without nice magazines it will be much harder to get informed and inspired!

bye bye~ chu <3 |
(And I still hope that it was a bad joke or a missinformation that Egg is going to be discontinued! Q___Q...Hope dies last!)
